Live courses, batches and classes
Create a course, organise students into batches, schedule live classes with a teacher, and follow attendance and progress.
Live classes let you turn any batch into a scheduled live video classroom: one teacher on stage, students on a managed roster, and every session recorded automatically.
Live classes need to be enabled for your portal. If you see Request live classes, fill in the expected number of students and a message. The Practet team reviews requests within a day.
1. Create a course
Courses → New Course. Give it a title, status and description. A course holds one or more batches.
2. Create a batch
Open the course → New Batch. A batch is a cohort of students who share the same live class schedule, for example "August 2026 Batch". Set the name and the start and end dates.
3. Add people to the batch
In the batch's roster:
- Add a host teacher. Only teachers associated with your portal can be added as a host.
- Add students. Only active students of your portal can be added.
- Activate or Deactivate a roster member at any time.
4. Schedule classes
Add Class → choose the Date, Start time, End time, a title and an optional description.
Rules:
- A class runs 20 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes.
- A class must start at least 1 hour from now.
Students see the class in Upcoming Classes and get a Join button when it's time.
During and after class
- The teacher can let students speak, mute them, remove someone, and End the class for everyone.
- Classes are recorded. Students can Watch recording afterwards.
- Each course and batch has Analytics: total and active enrolments and schedule progress.
Deleting
Deleting a class, batch or course asks for your password. Deleting a batch also removes its schedules and roster. Deleting a course removes its batches, schedules and enrolments. This cannot be undone.
