Set up your course and goals (onboarding)
The short setup after you sign up. Pick your course, set your exam date and target score, and tell us how you study.
The first time you sign in, Practet walks you through a short setup. Your answers decide which practice you see, how your Study Plan is built and which target your progress is measured against. Every answer can be changed later.
Step by step
-
Welcome to Practet. Click Let's Get Started.
-
What are you preparing for? Pick your course: IELTS, PTE, OET or Interview Preparation. The rest of the steps are tailored to this choice.
-
Course-specific step.
- OET: choose your healthcare profession (for example Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy or Physiotherapy). OET Writing and Speaking tasks are matched to it.
- Interview Preparation: enter your university, program and program level. We use them to tailor your mock interview questions.
-
Set Your Goals. Choose your Exam Date and your target score:
- IELTS: a target overall band from 3.0 to 9.0, in 0.5 steps
- PTE: a target score from 10 to 90
- OET: a target score from 0 to 500 (most boards ask for 350 / Grade B)
-
Your English Level. Rate your English from 1 to 10 and choose how many hours per day you can study (1, 2, 3 or 4+).
-
Your Strengths & Weaknesses. Pick the sections you find most difficult, and tell us if you've taken the exam before and what you scored.
-
One Last Thing… Tell us how you heard about Practet, then finish. Practet sets up your dashboard.
Joined through an institution?
If your institution added you, your course is already chosen, so you start from the goals step.
Changing your answers later
- Target score and exam date: Profile → Target score
- Course: use Switch course (see Switch to a different course)
- Study hours and weak areas: these feed your Study Plan. Use Regenerate Study Plan on the Study Plan page after you change your exam date.
In the mobile app
The app asks the same questions in the same order: your course first, then goals. It detects your country automatically. Use the back arrow at the top to change an earlier answer.
