The PTE practice playground
Find questions with filters, bookmark them by priority, switch tasks, redo an answer, read explanations and join the discussion.
The PTE playground is where you practise every task. It looks like the real exam screen and adds tools to help you study.
The question sidebar
Lists every question for the task. Filter by:
- Topic search
- Level: Easy, Medium or Hard
- Practice Status: All, Practiced, Not Practiced (a Done mark shows ones you've answered)
- Bookmark colour (see below)
Close the sidebar for a distraction-free screen, and open it again with the menu button.
The header
Shows the task title, the question's Level, how many you've Practiced, your Avg Score, how many days until your exam (Exam In) and your Bookmarks.
Bookmark questions by priority
Click the bookmark icon on a question and choose a priority:
- 🔴 Red - Urgent
- 🟣 Purple - Important
- 🔵 Blue - Review Later
- 🟢 Green - Mastered
Then filter the sidebar by colour to build your own revision list.
Moving around
- Previous / Next: the neighbouring question in the list.
- Redo: clear your answer and try the same question again.
- Switch task type: click the task title to jump to another task. If you haven't submitted, you'll be asked Leave this attempt?, because an unsubmitted answer is lost.
Exam rules we copy
- Copy and paste are turned off in the playground, as in the real exam.
- In writing answers, the answer box has its own Cut, Copy, Paste, Undo, Redo buttons, so you can move text around inside your answer.
- Listening and speaking audio plays once after a short countdown.
After you submit
- Your score and feedback appear straight away (Speaking and Writing take a few seconds).
- Click (explanation) on Reading and Listening questions to see why an answer is right.
- The Discussion Forum under each question lets you post a tip or question and reply to others (Ctrl+Enter to post).
