IELTS Speaking practice and mock tests

IELTS

Record answers to Part 1, 2 and 3 questions, or take a full Speaking mock test with an AI examiner, and get instant feedback.

Open Speaking from the side menu (web) or Home (app). You'll need a working microphone.

Practice by part

Choose a part, then a topic:

  • Part 1: short questions about familiar topics (home, work, hobbies). Answer in 2–3 sentences.
  • Part 2: a cue card. You get 1 minute to prepare, then speak for up to 2 minutes.
  • Part 3: discussion questions linked to the Part 2 topic. Give longer answers with reasons and examples.

Speaking mock test

A complete Speaking test with an AI examiner who asks the questions aloud: Part 1, then the Part 2 cue card, then Part 3. If you left one unfinished, choose Continue to pick up where you stopped or Start New.

Step by step

  1. Read the instructions. Find a quiet place, speak clearly and at a normal pace, and remember the session is recorded for AI analysis.
  2. Quick Mic Check. Read the sentence on screen ("Testing my microphone for the IELTS speaking practice"). When you see Mic is Ready!, click Continue to Practice. If it says Low Mic Accuracy, move closer to the mic or use a headset, then Try Again, or choose Proceed Anyway.
  3. Listen to the question. The examiner's question plays.
  4. Prepare (Part 2 only). The timer counts down and recording starts automatically. Click Skip Preparation to start sooner.
  5. Speak. Recording in progress, click the mic or Next to stop. Click Next Question when you're done.
  6. At the end, click Finish & Analyze. The report is usually ready in under a minute.

If something goes wrong

  • Microphone Required: allow microphone access in your browser or phone settings.
  • No Speech Detected: we couldn't hear words. Play your recording to check the mic, then Try Again.
  • Saving Failed: a recording didn't upload, usually because the connection dropped. Click Reload Page, and you'll continue from that question.

Supported browsers: Chrome (recommended), Safari and Edge.

Tips

  • Extend every answer: say what, then why, then give an example.
  • In Part 2, cover every bullet point on the cue card.
  • Don't memorise answers. Examiners (and the AI) reward natural, spontaneous speech.
