Every way to practise IELTS on Practet, from single question types to the Full Mock Test, and which one to use when.
Practet covers all four IELTS skills for Academic and General Training, from short drills to a complete test day.
Ways to practise
| Skill | Short practice | Full practice |
|---|---|---|
| Reading | Category practice: one question type (e.g. True/False/Not Given) across many passages. Section practice: one passage at a time. | Reading mock test: 3 passages, 40 questions, 60 minutes |
| Listening | Part practice: Part 1, 2, 3 or 4 on its own | Listening mock test: all 4 parts, 40 questions, about 30 minutes plus answer time |
| Writing | Task 1 or Task 2 questions on their own, marked by AI | Writing mock test: Task 1 + Task 2 together in 60 minutes |
| Speaking | Practice by part: Part 1, Part 2 (cue card) or Part 3 questions by topic | Speaking mock test: all three parts with an AI examiner |
| All four | Full Mock Test: Listening → Reading → Writing → Speaking for one overall band |
Which should I use?
- Early on: use category and part practice to find and fix weak question types.
- Building stamina: move to section tests and single-skill mock tests.
- The last 2–4 weeks: take a Full Mock Test each week under exam conditions.
How scoring works
- Reading and Listening are marked instantly. Your correct answers out of 40 are converted to an IELTS band.
- Writing and Speaking are marked by AI against the four official IELTS criteria. The report is usually ready within a minute.
- AI bands are for guidance. They follow the public IELTS band descriptors, but a certified examiner may score slightly differently.
The IELTS test screen
The practice screens copy the computer-delivered IELTS layout:
- Options menu: change Contrast (Black on White, White on Black, Yellow on Black) and Text Size (Regular, Large, Extra Large), read Test Instructions or Save & Exit
- Notes and Fullscreen buttons
- A question bar at the bottom to jump between questions, with Previous and Next
- The timer at the top
Buttons marked This button is not available in the real exam are practice-only extras.
