IELTS Academic Fee and Registration
What IELTS Academic costs and how to book your test.
Approximate Fee
IELTS fees are set locally by British Council and IDP, not centrally by IELTS itself, so the exact amount varies significantly by country and even by city. Always check the official price at the time of booking.
How to Register for IELTS Academic

Money Matters: Reschedules, Cancellations, and Smart Prep
Reschedule ahead of time
Most centres allow rescheduling up to a set number of weeks before your test date, usually with a partial refund or fee.
Late cancellation forfeits most of the fee
Cancelling close to your test date typically forfeits most or all of the fee - check your specific centre's policy when you book.
Fee is non-refundable close to test day
The closer you cancel to your booked date, the less of the fee you're likely to get back, regardless of centre.
Check readiness before you pay
Practet's free IELTS Academic practice and AI-scored mock tests help you gauge readiness before you commit to the fee.
