App updates, connection problems and "Retry connection"
Mobile App

How the app updates itself, what the connection error screen means, and why you stay signed in when the internet drops.
Updates
- Small updates download in the background and apply the next time you open the app. You don't need to do anything.
- Bigger updates come through the App Store or Google Play. Turn on automatic updates, or update Practet from the store when asked.
The app version is shown at the bottom of the More tab. Include it when you contact support.
"Couldn't connect" / Retry connection
If the app can't reach Practet (no internet, weak signal, or our server is briefly unavailable), you'll see an error screen with a Retry connection button.
- You stay signed in. The app only signs you out if your session has really expired or been ended.
- Check your Wi-Fi or mobile data, then tap Retry connection.
During a test
- Answers save as you go. If the connection drops in a PTE mock test, the test pauses (the clock stops) and asks you to Retry once you're back online.
- For speaking, a dropped connection can cut an answer short. Use a stable connection for mock tests.
Still stuck?
- Close the app completely and open it again.
- Make sure the app is up to date.
- Contact support from More → Contact Us with your app version and what you were doing.
